VTT is a project coordinator and aims to develop an AI based supply-demand forecasting model for remanufacturing network. VTT utilises Product Lens approach that includes Value Stream Mapping for data. VTT is responsible for activating cooperation between project partners, international cooperation with EU manufacturing instruments, and establishing research exchange with Tokyo University. Contact for the project: marko.jurvansuu@vtt.fi

The University of Oulu is responsible for developing decision support tools for the product remanufacturing return loop, recommendations for product design and conducting market research. In addition, it conducts demonstration tasks, dissemination, international cooperation (Linköping University), and writing final theses and scientific articles.

Ponsse (Veturi) is providing the main use case for the project, which is to increase forestry machine parts remanufacturing business within their network. They are supplying data for research and for use by other business partners, highlighting their development needs, and building a prototype of collaboration platform for remanufacturing network. Ponsse receives input and tools for the further development of its machines and maintenance services, which it uses to grow its remanufacturing business.

Nokian Heavy Tyres Ltd is part of Nokian Tyres (Veturi) and the pioneer in special tires particularly in the field of forestry. Nokian Tyres IntuituTM smart tire technology was launched in 2019, and the company will contribute its expertise in smart tires to the project. Nokian Tyres’ research is focused on creating a lifecycle model of a forestry tire based on data received from their smart tires and the forestry machine. For the data Nokian Tyres works in close cooperation with forest machine contractor Motoajo Oy, whose machine fleet has over ten Ponsse forwarders equipped with Nokian Tyres IntuituTM Innertube solution for smart forestry tires.

Masino-Konaflex Oy brings to the project its expertise in the remanufacturing of hydraulic pumps for heavy machinery in terms of their operation, the refurbishment process, and pump faults detected during preliminary inspections. Masino-Konaflex will provide this data to the consortium for use. Masino-Konaflex will gain an understanding of how the detected pump faults correlate with their hours of use and conditions based on other data it receives. Company is developing its own capability to offer a completely new type of data-based maintenance application to customers based on the data types in the project.

Kaltio Technologies is a solution developer that will be able to develop its artificial intelligence capabilities for its data management service in the project’s use cases. Platform will collect data from multiple project partners, preprocess and analyse it with algorithms from Kaltiot and VTT. The project will open up opportunities for Kaltiot to build a business with a new industry sector.

Motoajo Oy acts as the end customer, bringing its experience, needs, and knowledge of the life cycle of forestry machines to the project. They will have the opportunity to learn about new technologies and influence the development of new services made by OEM manufacturers. They will provide customer feedback on the solutions in the project.
