FREIMAN consortium gathered to gathered on 7.5.2026 for an inspiring and engaging consortium meeting hosted by Nokian Tyres at their headquarters in Nokia, Finland. The day offered a valuable opportunity for project partners to connect, exchange ideas, and further strengthen collaboration across the remanufacturing value chain.
The meeting programme included a fascinating tour of the tire manufacturing facilities, providing participants with a firsthand look at modern production processes and innovation at Nokian Tyres. One of the most memorable highlights of the day was the live smart tire demonstration, including a unique tractor ride through the Nokia city centre area in a vehicle equipped with Nokian Tyres’ intelligent tire technology.
In the afternoon, University of Oulu researchers facilitated interactive workshops focused on developing data-driven business models and sharing the latest progress from the project teams. These sessions encouraged active discussion, collaboration, and the exchange of ideas between consortium partners, highlighting both the strong expertise and the enthusiastic spirit within the FREIMAN project.
As our host Mika Haapalainen nicely summarized at the end of the day: “Our consortium consists of an excellent group of enthusiastic and highly skilled experts, and we have successfully brought together the entire remanufacturing value chain within the consortium.”
